What is a chemical peel?

​Made from skin-friendly acids, chemical peels are exfoliants that remove dirt, grime and dead skin cells from the top layer of our skin.

Why use a chemical peel?

​Chemical peel also known as dermapeeling helps with cleaning the pores of our skin, reduces pigmentation and dark spots, and overall brightens the skin.

Types of chemical peel

​There are three levels of peel—light chemical peel, medium chemical peel and deep chemical peel. Each of these affects the skin with varying intensity. Medium and deep chemical peel should be opted only on the recommendation of a cosmetologist or dermatologist.

Things to keep in mind when using chemical peel

​Always do a patch test to check if your skin is reacting to the peel. Do not use other actives such as Vitamin C, retinol, etc., after using a chemical peel. Always wear generous amount sunscreen during the day.

​India today has a range of light to medium chemical peels that you can safely use at home. Here are five you can start with:

​If you’re new to chemical peel this light peel is a good place to start. Apart from exfoliating, this chemical peel claims to improve skin texture and reduce fine lines.

5. Dot & Key Hydro Peel Glow Potion

​Apart from AHAs and BHAs, beta-carotene rich grapefruit extract helps add a youthful glow to a freshly exfoliated skin.
