Ranbir Kapoor Goes Back In Time With 'Shamshera'

Ranbir Kapoor’s next release, 'Shamshera', is all set to hit the theatres on July 22. Will he rock this role or won’t he? Let’s take a look at his tribal looks, the cast and what awaits us.

Set in the 1800s, 'Shamshera' is a fictional period drama about a warrior who fights a slave owner to free his dacoit tribe from their perpetrator. The film is directed by Karan Malhotra.

Ranbir has undergone quite a bit of a transformation in the film. He had to get on a proper diet, work out, build a six-pack just to fit into the role.

This is also the first time Ranbir is playing a dual role reportedly said that it was not only a challenge to play the part but to also look it. Plus his makeup took hours to accomplish.

Let’s not forget the baddie, Sanjay Dutt in the role of the antagonist, Shuddh Singh. After his part in 'KGF 2' where he played the villain to the T, we cannot wait for this one.

Vaani Kapoor plays Ranbir’s romantic interest in the movie. This is Vaani’s fifth project with Yash Raj Films. The last one was 'War'. 'Shamshera' also stars Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.

Ranbir, who’s been in the news lately for the announcement of Alia and his baby, is acting with Sanjay Dutt for the first time, and given that both are fairly strong actors, the screen dynamics have made a lot of fans curious.

Incidentally, Ranbir’s next film is 'Brahmastra', which is also slated to release this year. What will be interesting is to see which of his characters will garner more accolades.

'Shamshera' will have a worldwide release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Made with a budget of Rs 150 crore, will the film be able to come close to 'KGF 2', whose box office collections from across the world currently stands at Rs 1198 crore.
