With 23 grand slams under her belt and as a top-seeded tennis player, Serena Williams is retiring after 27 years of playing professional tennis.
In a heartfelt article in ‘Vogue’s’ US edition, Serena Williams announced her retirement. In the article, she shares that she dislikes the word retirement.
But one of the biggest reasons she is choosing to retire is to focus on her family. She is married to Alexis Ohanian and has a daughter, Olympia.
In a passage she compares motherhood to tennis. The former is joy and love while the latter, over the years she discovered, was full of sacrifices.
The 41-year-old tennis superstar also has her investment firm, Serena Ventures. The company is said to have invested in more than 60 startups, which include Impossible Foods, Sorare and Tonal.
Serena William’s aim is to grow Serena Ventures and promote women entrepreneurs in the world.
Serena Williams is currently on her last professional tennis season. She recently lost the Canadian Open trophy to Belinda Bencic in Toronto.
Serena Williams is taking her bow from tennis but will always be one of the greatest of all time who won on the courts and our hearts with her conviction and never-give-up attitude.
