It was a night of historic wins at the 95th annual Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
There's a lot to celebrate for India, as two of its three nominations won an Oscar today. The iconic ‘Naatu Naatu’ soundtrack of 'RRR' by MM Keeravani won the Best Original Song award at the ceremony. Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga’s 'The Elephant Whisperers' won under the Best Documentary Short category.
Two films quickly emerged as dominant forces in the race to pick up the most Oscar trophies: the German-language war epic 'All Quiet on the Western Front' and the topsy-turvy multiverse action-comedy 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'.
‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ pulled in the most awards, with seven wins in some of the biggest categories, including best picture, best director - Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, best original screenplay and three of the acting categories.
‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ notched four wins, including the best international feature film trophy.
Michelle Yeoh won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Award at the 95th Academy Awards and made history all at once. The Malaysian-born actor became the first Asian woman to win the Academy Award for best actress for her multifaceted performance in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.
Actor Brendan Fraser has won the best actor for 'The Whale'. He stars as a morbidly obese teacher in the film.
Even costume designer, Ruth E Carter gets her second trophy in the costume category, after her win for 2019’s 'Black Panther'.
While the popular film, 'Top Gun: Maverick' won Best Sound, 'Avatar: The Way of Water' got an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
