A month after the release of her action thriller ‘Dhaakad’, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is back to business with an exciting project.

She has started shooting for ‘Emergency’, a film based on former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Set in the year 1971, it focuses on the period when the political leader announced emergency in the country.

Kangana made this announcement on Instagram with the first poster and teaser of the film. A quick glance at the poster and video and you notice how skillfully the makers have recreated the look of the late politician.

"Presenting #EmergencyFirstLook! Portraying one of the most powerful and controversial women in the history of the world," read Kangana’s Instagram caption of the first look poster.

Kangana nails the style, dialect, and mannerisms of the former Indian Prime Minister.

Kangana’s uncanny resemblance to Indira Gandhi has been made possible by renowned prosthetic makeup artist David Malinowski, who won the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for the 2017 film ‘Darkest Hour’.

The teaser features a short conversation between the politician and a man from her office. She asks the man to inform the US President to address her as ‘sir’ instead of madam.

‘Emergency’ was announced in 2021 and has been one of Kangana’s most-awaited films. The script has been written by Ritesh Shah of ‘D-Day’ fame.

Kangana’s last project was ‘Dhaakad’ that got released in May 2022. The film was not well-received at the box office. Hence, fans have high expectations from her upcoming film ‘Emergency’.
