The first teaser of the Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah-starrer movie ‘Darlings’ released a few weeks back kept everyone wondering about the frog and scorpion story. The mystery is finally over!

The trailer of Alia’s debut production just released and it seems to be a promising dark comedy. Here’s why it’s definitely worth watching.

The trailer shows Alia and Shefali in a never-seen-before avatar. They will be seen playing a mother-daughter duo adding the perfect amount of thrill and suspense to the dark comedy with their impeccable acting chops.

Alia and Shefali, both powerhouses of talent, will be sharing the screen for the first time and needless to say, it’s going to be an absolute treat to watch them.

In the trailer, we see Badrunnisa (Alia Bhatt) as a strong-headed woman who’s been subjected to domestic violence and decides to give her husband Hamza Sahikh (Vijay Varma) the same treatment. “What follows next is a hilarious comedy jo thodi dark hain!” reads the trailer's description.

Badrunnisa with the help of her mother (Shefali Shah) kidnaps her husband and decides to hide him in their own house. “Enough defense, I will play offence now,” Badrunissa says in the trailer.

To see women fight back against domestic violence in their own witty and aberrant ways is a rare phenomenon in Bollywood movies. Darling is surely an exception!

The film directed by Jasmeet K Reen is slated to premiere on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
