Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project, 'Heeramandi', looks enthralling already. It is said to be a web series releasing on Netflix.

A nine-episode saga about the culture, glamour, and gritty reality, it is said to focus on three generations of courtesans of Heera Mandi, Lahore’s red light district.

For the unversed, Heera Mandi is an actual place in Pakistan’s Lahore. It used to be a place where courtesans performed during the Mughal era.

Heera Mandi became a red light district that was around even during the British colonial era. In fact, the place is still seen as a red light area.

However, Bhansali’s upcoming project is said to focus on the lives of women in Heera Mandi during the pre-Independence era.

The new teaser for 'Heeramandi' boasts of an impressive cast that includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh.

Here's a bit of trivia, the sets for 'Heeramandi' is said to be made in the same spot as 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'.

Bhansali films have always been such an immersive experience; they make you leave the theatres craving for more. It will be interesting to watch how a Bhansali series would be.
