From Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Shamshera’ to Farhan Akhtar in 'Toofan', here’s a list of actors who underwent massive physical transformations to fit into their on screen roles.
Ranbir Kapoor’s muscular body in ‘Sanju’ came as a total surprise. According to reports, he ate 10 meals a day to put on those extra 15 kilos to fit into his role. For ‘Shamshera’, the actor was required to build a worker’s body.
The actor underwent a drastic transformation and had to shed 18 kg in 28 days to fit the titular role in ‘Sarbjit’. Sharing a black and white throwback picture of his transformation, he wrote, “Almost took the life outta me.”
Farhan gained 15 kilos in six weeks for his role of Ajju aka Aziz in 'Toofan'. Sharing glimpses of his transformation he wrote, “What a ride. 18 months of relentless work but worth every drop of sweat, every sore muscle and every pound gained and lost.”
To play J Jayalalithaa in her biopic 'Thalaivi', Kangana had to gain 20 kgs in six months. She wrote, “Gaining 20 kgs in 6 months and losing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body. ...but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself.”
To portray the character of Silk, Vidya had to shed all her inhibitions and put on 12 kilos.
To play the on screen character of an ex-wrestler Mahavir Singh, he had to put on extra 27 kilos. He weighed 97 kg in the movie.
To fit into the role of a wrestler in the film, Salman weighed 96 kg.
