One of Amazon Prime Video’s hit ‘Modern Love’, an eight-part anthology series based on the New York Times’ column on love, relationships, and human connection, will soon get an Indian version.
Titled ‘Modern Love: Mumbai’, the series will showcase six stories–‘Mumbai Dragon’ by Vishal Bhardwaj, ‘My Beautiful Wrinkles’ by Alankrita Shrivastava, ‘I Love Thane’ by Dhruv Sehgal, ‘Cutting Chai’ by Nupur Asthana, ‘Raat Rani’ by Shonali Bose and ‘Baai’ by Hansal Mehta.
‘Modern Love: Mumbai’ is the first instalment of the three-part film series that Amazon Prime Video has planned for India. The other two chapters being –‘Modern Love: Chennai’ and ‘Modern Love: Hyderabad’.
The Mumbai chapter will highlight the diversity that the metropolitan city enjoys in terms of architecture, religion, culture, ethnicity, and more.
The cast of the Mumbai version of ‘Modern Love’ features Fatima Sana Shaikh, Danesh Razvi, Meiyang Chang, Naseeruddin Shah, Aadar Malik, Prateik Babbar, Masaba Gupta, Chitrangada Singh and Arshad Warsi among other actors.
The trailer of the first anthology was released on April 25, 2022, and the series is slated to release on May 13, 2022.
The stories, just like Mumbai and the people therein, are diverse. Think a married couple rediscovering their relationship, a middle-aged woman attracted to a young man, a gay man keeping his sexuality hidden from parents, and so on.
