Let’s be honest, ‘Shamshera’ promotions have been more about Ranbir Kapoor becoming a father than the movie itself. As Ranbir Kapoor awaits the birth of his first child with Alia Bhatt, let’s take a look at all the times he spoke about embracing fatherhood.

Fatherhood is going to be the most important role in his life, he told Zoom, “I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life. I believe with everything that I have in me that it is going to be the most important role I play, and that’s it you know.”

Talking about the age-difference he will share with his child, he said, “This also happens when a man is nearing 40. You start thinking these things also, 'yaar mera baccha jab 20 saal ka hoga, toh main 60 ka hounga'. Will I be able to play any sports, go on any trek?"

Reacting to Alia being trolled for pregnancy, he told News18, “It was a very joyful time in our lives and we just wanted to share it with the world. It doesn’t matter how anyone reacts to it. I am very happy and very excited, and very nervous. I am terrified also, but I am very grateful.”

Ranbir and Alia both have always been very fond of kids. Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar India, Ranbir said, “Alia and I have been talking about having kids from the first day we met and fell in love. I’ve always wanted children. And she wants children. To start a new chapter in life… I am extremely excited about that, I can’t wait."

“I am taking each day as it comes. Lots of plans, lots of dreams, imagining the future but till the day it doesn’t happen, till the day of birth, I really don’t know how I will be,” he told Zoom.

The couple is pretty clear about sharing parenting responsibilities as Ranbir told News18, “Both of us have been talking about it for some time now, how we’re going to share our responsibilities and how we’re going to share our time. I want to have a different dynamic with my child and where I feel it’s important for the child to be close to both parents.”

“I have sat down and thought about it and I feel my fatherhood is going to be similar to any other father. It’s one of the best feelings in the world,” he told News18
