Going goth doesn’t mean overdoing all things dark and black. Learn from Jenna Ortega’s character Wednesday Addams.
Actor Jenna Ortega plays the protagonist of the new Netflix show. 'Wednesday' is a contemporary teen spin-off of the single-panel comic strip, first created in 1938 for 'The New Yorker', The Addams family created by Charles Addams.
Ortega’s soft gothic look has been created by makeup artist Tara McDonald. The highlight of the look is Wednesday’s pale skin, subtle goth eyes, two braids, black nail polish, dark outfit and clunky shoes.
Wednesday’s sartorial sense is the easiest to crack—a black and white ensemble, grey-toned midi dress or co-ord set will do. But do make sure you have pristine white collars and cuffs to make the look truly soft.
You cannot recreate a Wednesday Addams look, without the braided pigtails. If you want to dress up the look, you can go for an updo a ‘la Wednesday from the Rave’n Dance.
In the show 'Wednesday', Jenna Ortega has freckles that stand out due to her pallor. Although there is some colour to this Wednesday when compared to Christina Ricci’s Wednesday from the 1991 film.
Her eyes are the focal point with a subtle smokey eyes on her lids and heightened sunken eyes, achieved with the help of red cream blush. A good dose of mascara on the lashes completes the eye makeup.
The final touch to Wednesday’s soft goth look is the deep lips created using MAC Cosmetics Nightmoth lip liner topped with a lip balm. The lip liner, it is reported, has been sold out since the news of its use on the show broke.
