​After a successful stint in the TV industry, Sushant made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with 'Kai Po Che' -- an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's The 3 Mistakes of My Life. He played the role of Ishaan Bhatt aka Ish, alongside actors, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh in the movie.

​Shuddh Desi Romance

​His second film that year was 'Shuddh Desi Romance' alongside Bollywood divas Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor. Set in Jaipur, this movie saw him romancing both the actors while also dealing with commitment issues.

​In 2014, he did a cameo in Rajkumar Hirani's blockbuster hit 'PK', where he played the role of Sarfaraz Yousuf from Pakistan. The movie starred Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.

​Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

​In 2015, he impressed critics by brilliantly pulling off the role of iconic fictional character Byomkesh Bakshi, in Dibakar Banerjee's 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy'. The film was set in 1940's Kolkata.

​MS Dhoni: The Untold Story

​In 2016, came 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', which was based on the life of former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Here he shared the screen with actors, Disha Patani and Kiara Advani, among others.

​Raabta

​In 2017, he starred in another rom-com, 'Raabta', opposite Kriti Sanon. The film also featured actors Jim Sarbh, Rajkummar Rao, and Deepika Padukone (special appearance).

​Kedarnath

​'Kedarnath' was a 2018 romantic drama film that featured an inter-faith love story. Sushant played the role of a Muslim boy working as a porter in Uttarakhand, who falls for a rich Hindu Brahmin girl played by the then-newcomer Sara Ali Khan.

​Chhichore

​In Chhichore, the late actor played the role of a middle-aged divorcee Aniruddh opposite Shraddha Kapoor. The plot revolved around their son attempting suicide amid fear of being called a loser, and the actor recounting his college journey as one, to revive his son's willingness to live.

​Dil Bechara

​This was his last movie. It was an adaptation of the famous novel 'The Fault In Our Stars', where he was cast opposite Sanjana Sanghi. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the film was released online, and to honour the late actor, it was made available free of cost in India.
