7 Desi Girls Who Rocked At CWG 2022

​Indian athletes have done a fine job at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, snagging up quite a few medals – from gold to bronze. However, it’s the women that deserve special attention for making their sport and their country proud.

​1. Nikhat Zareen

​Nikhat Zareen, along with other boxing champs from India - Nitu Ghanghas and Amit Panghal - won the country's third gold medal in boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

​2. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu

​Manipur's Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who also works with the police department, won the gold in the women's 49-kg weightlifting competition. She lifted 201 kg.

​3. PV Sindhu

​Indian badminton champion PV Sindhu beat Canada's Michelle Li to win her first singles gold medal at CWG 2022. Sindhu is already a double Olymic medallist.

​4. Annu Rani

​Annu Rani, set the Indian national record in women’s javelin by winning a bronze at the CWG 2022. This was India’s first medal in women’s javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games and the third overall.

​5. Priyanka Goswami

​Priyanka Goswami created history as she won silver in the women's 10,000 m race walk final at Commonwealth Games 2022.

​6. Vinesh Phogat

​Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat won the gold medal in the Women's Freestyle 53 kg Nordic category at the recently-concluded commonwealth Games 2022. She defeated Chamodya Keshani Maduravalage Don of Sri Lanka.

​7. Shushila Likmabam

​Manipur’s Shushila Devi Likmabam bagged a silver medal in the women’s judo 48-kg final, giving India its seventh medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022 on the last day of the games.
