7 New Movies And Series To Binge-Watch This Weekend

From theatres to OTT platforms, here are seven releases that are hitting the screens this Friday. And, here's why they deserve to be on your weekend binge-watch list.

Dev Patel starrer, The Green Knight, directed by David Lowery, is set in the 14th century. Patel is Sir Gawain from King Arthur's court and is on a journey of self-discovery, as he fights crooks, thieves, ogres, and ghouls, on his path. The movie also stars Alicia Vikander and Joel Edgerton among others. The film in now showing in select PVR theatres across Delhi/NCR.

Starring Bollywood actors, Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Rhea Chakraborty, among others, Chehre is a mystery thriller that revolves around an 80-year-old criminal lawyer and his group of friends. Directed by Rumy Jafry, the octogenarian, played by Bachchan, is fond of playing real-life games where he conducts a mock trial to ensure justice is served.

As Tamil Nadu prepares to reopen multiplexes and theatres from August 27, 2021, cine goers are waiting for the grand release of Telugu film, Sridevi Soda Center. Directed by Karuna Kumar, the movie stars actors, Pavel Navageethan, Anandhi, and Sudhir Babu Posani. It is based on a real life love story of a couple battling the strict caste system and politics in their village.  

This Nikkhil Advani series starring Shabana Azmi, Kunal Kapoor, and Dino Morea, among others, is releasing this Friday on Disney+ Hotstar Premium. The series is a cinematic depiction of the rise and fall of the Mughal empire in India, starting from Babur to Aurangzeb. The show will also star popular television actor Drishti Dhami, and is a must-watch for all history enthusiasts.  

Remember Sabu, Kiara and Maggu, our very own Engineering Girls? They are coming back on Zee5 with the second season of the series on August 27, 2021. So, get ready to once again, watch OTT stars, Barkha Singh, Sejal Kumar and Kritika Avasthi, reprise their roles as three engineering students struggling to make their dreams come true and deal with dorm and dating issues. 

If you have watched the 1999 teen movie, She's All That, here's its 2021 remake titled, He's All That. Starring Addison Rae, Tanner Buchanan, and Madison Pettis, this Mark Waters’ film, shows the story of a high school teenage girl, who takes up the challenge of turning her least popular classmate into a prom king. Watch this on Netflix this weekend.

All the Korean drama fans out there, here's a Netflix release that you need to bookmark for this Friday. Starring Jung Hae In, Seong-gyoon Kim, and Kyo-hwan Koo, D.P. starts with a young private being sent on an assignment to capture army deserters. During the whole mission, the show reveals the harsh reality endured by everyone during their call of duty.
